As we begin the 50 Days of Easter, we also celebrate the start of St. Chrys’ Closet ‘s third year of serving the most at risk among us. Started as a Christian response to a humanitarian crisis, taking care of some of the most basic needs of the then exploding population that found themselves seeking asylum in our neighborhoods. Over the last 2+ years St. Chrys’ Closet has organically grown to serve three distinct populations, in addition to refugees/asylum seekers, we see homeless and food,/clothing/ shelter insecure, many of whom have physical and/or mental challenges that complicate their day to day lives, and third, our elderly, often with physical issues who live in subsidized housing in our neighborhoods. We have averaged well over 100 shoppers a week this last year and serve multiples of that as many are shopping for family and friends who may not be able to come in themselves. We proudly partner with many of the most respected sacred and secular non profits in the greater Chicago community to extend our reach. Our parish can be proud of the work we do in the name of St. Chrysostom. Many of your fellow parishioners support our mission by their gift of time. It takes hundreds or man hours every month to keep this ministry operating. It also takes a lot of “stuff”! Thank you for your support this past year. Our sock and gloves/ mittens drive was very successful. Many also continue to fuel the store with their gently used items.THANK YOU! THANK YOU! As we celebrate our annual 50 Days of Easter Drive we would like you to consider contributing, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, and diapers and wipes. You will see those items on the 50 Days Wish List. You can also make monetary contributions which we will pool and buy some items we can in bulk at significant savings.
Again, thank you St.Chrysostom’s parishioners for your long term support!
