Back in 2010, my husband, Bob, and I decided, to the surprise of many, to retire and move to Chicago, the place where we had lived and worked when we were first married 50 years ago. When our children were young, we had left the Chicago area; but, as they were growing up, we often visited Chicago, typically worshiping with them at Fourth Presbyterian Church. But upon retiring in the city, we eventually settled on St Chrysostom’s. (Fortunately for us, within the city itself, we now have five grandchildren, and we have three more in nearby Southern Wisconsin.) We have both been involved in the church in various ways: Bob served on the last search committee, I served on the Vestry, working among other things to provide housing for Syrian refugees, who, in the case of our church, turned out to be the Abbas family with two lovely daughters. Today, they are proudly American Citizens.
