Ally Henny (she/her) is a postulant to the priesthood in the Diocese of Chicago. She is a writer, speaker, anti-oppression advocate, and vice president of The Witness: A Black Christian Collective–an organization committed to encouraging, engaging, and empowering Black Christians to fight back against racism.
Ally lives in Chicago with her partner, Ben, their daughters Ezra (10) and Lysander (7), and Bella, their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Ally and Ben will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in June.
Ally’s hobbies include reading, watching television, and attending the theatre. She is a lifelong Kansas City Royals fan. Her favorite football team is the Pittsburgh Steelers, and she loves Kansas Jayhaws basketball. Since moving to Chicago, Ally has become a big fan of the Sky.
Ally earned a Master of Divinity with an emphasis in race, cultural identity, and reconciliation from Fuller Seminary in 2020. She graduated magna cum laude in the Honors College from Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2008.
Ally’s sending parish is St. Thomas (Chicago), the mother church of Black American Episcopalians in the Diocese of Chicago.
