SEARCH COMMITTEE UPDATE In the last two months, your Search Committee has analyzed responses to the congregation-wide survey that was held open in November and December. Materials from the various small groups of parishioners held in December and January have been compiled. These sources have been the basis for a renewed Parish Profile, just now completed and approved by the Wardens. We have also drafted a document for the Office of Transitional Ministry (OTM), the official job posting to be seen only by eligible candidates. These draft materials will be sent to the Chicago Diocese for review immediately after Easter. We hope for a prompt response so that the position of Rector of St. Chrysostom’s, Chicago can be nationally posted with the OTM. Once it is “live” the position will remain open for 60 days. Shortly thereafter, we hope that the Search Committee will begin to review submissions. We appreciate all the input that so many of you have provided and welcome any questions.

About the exhibit: Featuring books, maps, and ephemera from the Newberry collection, Pop-Up Books through the Ages traces the extensive history of hands-on reading. Tactile, interactive components can be found in everything from a 1489 astronomical calendar and a 1775 battle map to a 1932 edition of Pinocchio. Viewing these different items in one place, visitors will see how the art, science, and business of pop-up books evolved over hundreds of years.

STEWARDSHIP 2023 – The 100% Campaign
The 100% Campaign rolls on! But time is passing--Easter marks the end of Lent and also the end of our 100% Campaign--and Easter will be here before we know it. There isn't much time left to demonstrate what St. Chrysostom's means to you by making a 2023 Pledge as part of our 100% Campaign. We know our very special community here can achieve 100% 2023 Pledge participation, but we need your help to get there!
If you haven't already, we hope you will make your pledge today at https://onrealm.org/SaintC/-/form/pledge/23pledge, or by simply emailing our Director of Operations, Tim Crum, at [email protected] If you are interested in learning a little more about what a pledge is and what the money goes towards, please see this brochure here: https://saintc.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Stewardship-Brochure-2023.pdf.
We will be putting the names of all those who make a 2023 pledge on the church website here: https://saintc.org/giving/. Thank you! Each and every pledge, of whatever amount you feel able to contribute, is cherished here at St. Chrys—just as each and every member of our community is cherished. And each and every pledge furthers the aims of the 100% Campaign, by emphasizing your commitment to membership in our congregation and in our community.
There is no right or wrong way to come up with an annual pledge amount. The Episcopal Church encourages people to “strive to tithe,” which means identifying a percentage of your household income to give to the work of God through your church, working incrementally year to year toward the Biblical standard of ten percent. The average 2022 pledge was $4,887. Helpful questions to ask yourself include, “What is my annual gift as a percentage of my income—and does this reflect my gratitude for God’s generosity in my life?”; “Do I feel good about my annual gift?”; and “Does my annual gift reflect the importance of St. Chrysostom’s for my life?”
To those who have already made your pledge for 2023, thank you!
