For forty-two years in the St. Chrysostom’s community, including the past seventeen as Deacon, Larry Green has blessed this church community with his steadfast love and service. Larry has done everything in the church from teaching Confirmation classes to serving on the vestry to running an after-school tutoring program to championing programs like Youth Guidance to delivering care packages to folks living on the streets. Additionally, Larry has supported the work of the Diocese of Chicago and the wider Episcopal Church.
Larry has been in conversation with Bishop Chilton and the Deacon Leadership Team of the Diocese about his next steps. He will take some time off and then discern the possibility of diaconal work in another congregation. Larry’s last Sunday as St. Chrys’ Deacon will be Sunday, May 22nd, and there will be a special celebration that day honoring Larry. Deacons like Larry are not compensated, so we want to send Larry off with a generous cash Thank You Gift. Contributions in check form may be made out to St. Chrysostom’s Church, attention Deacon Larry.
Thank you and go with God, Larry!
