Formed & Fed :We gather to learn, pray, hear God’s story, and eat together.
Formed and Fed – Lent is a wonderful time to deepen our spiritual practice together. In this five-week Lenten series, we’ll be exploring the depth and richness of the Holy Spirit in church teaching as well as experience of prayer, creative play, and bodily practice. The theologian Elizabeth A. Johnson describes the Holy Spirit as the “Cinderella” of the Trinity–hard at a work, but often overlooked! Join us for Sunday evenings in Lent for food and fellowship as we take a look at the Spirit’s creative, energizing, wisdom-imparting, and unifying work in the world and in our own lives.

*Yoga Practice with Gary Alexander:
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” I Corinthians, 6:19
Yoga instructor Gary Alexander will lead this session which will explore ways that meditation and increased physical awareness can enliven our connection with the Holy Spirit, deepen our Lenten journey, and open ourselves more fully to the Resurrection. No previous yoga experience is necessary. Please wear clothes that are comfortable to move in and feel free to bring a yoga mat or block if you have one.

Gary Alexander is one of Chicago’s leading yoga instructors. His regular schedule includes group classes at Fitness Formula Clubs, stay-at-home classes on Zoom, private students, and a weekly drop-in class at St. James Cathedral. During his 16 years of teaching, Gary has worked with all levels of students and has led workshops on various aspects of yoga in schools, corporate offices, and for performing artists. Off the mat, Gary is a professional actor, a life-long Episcopalian, and on the staff at our neighboring parish, Church of the Ascension.
