Cooking for
Deborah’s Place
Deborah’s Place is a home and shelter for women located
on north Sedgwick near North Avenue. One of the major goals at
Deborah’s Place is to give their residents the skills,
direction, and confidence necessary to leave the shelter as
employed, productive women who are able to obtain and manage
their own housing once again.
The volunteer crew at St.
Chrysostom’s gathers in the kitchen on the Thursday before the
third Friday of the month to prepare a meal to feed
approximately 50 people. That meal is transferred from the
upstairs refrigerator and delivered to Deborah’s Place by
volunteers on the next day. Shopping, cooking, and delivery
personnel
are
needed. If you can peel a potato, chop an
onion, boil an egg, brown ground beef, add bacon bits and cheese
to a container of salad, or wash dishes, then you’ll be welcomed
to join in this outreach ministry. Call the church office for
current contact information.
