Cathedral Shelter Christmas Baskets

In this approaching Christmas Season, we are working again with The Cathedral Shelter of Chicago to restore hope for many homeless and vulnerable people in our community. In the past 6 years, well over 100 needy families have been helped each year by the generosity of St. Chrysostom’s parishioners and friends. All of us who have adopted a family in the past know the joy we feel when we buy, wrap, and pack a box of Christmas gifts for a family in need to open on Christmas. That family would not know the joy of Christmas without our help. Each donor will receive a brief history of the family with names, ages, clothing sizes, monthly income, and several gift wishes from which to choose. Most families choose practical wishes like sheets, towels, winter jackets, pots, pans, and warm clothes for their children, all items that we see as necessities for our lives, not “gift wishes.” Families come in all sizes. Each year we receive many elderly persons that are alone, living in poverty and in need of all the basics in life. Call now to pick your special family and begin to think about the comfort and joy you can give this Christmas. You may call St. Chrysostom’s parish office or Judy Van Dam.
